Weighted Grade Calculator
Combine scores and weights from your syllabus into your course grade.
Formula
Course grade = Σ (score × weight) ÷ Σ (weights)
Each item contributes score × weight points. Divide the total by the sum of weights — your syllabus weights should total 100%.
Example calculation
Homework 90% × 20% = 18.0
Midterm 78% × 30% = 23.4
Final 85% × 50% = 42.5
83.9 ÷ 100
= 83.9% course grade
Assumptions
- Scores and weights are percentages.
- If weights don’t sum to 100%, a warning is shown but the result still uses the entered weights.
- All items use the same 0–100 score scale.
Frequently asked questions
My weights don’t add to 100 — is the result wrong?
The calculator still divides by the actual weight sum, which gives your grade on the work counted so far — useful mid-semester. A warning flags the mismatch.
Can I use this before the final exam?
Yes — enter only graded items so far; the result is your current standing. Pair it with the Final Grade Calculator to plan the exam.
Do I enter items or categories?
Either — enter a whole category with its combined score and syllabus weight, or list items individually.
